Meet Pat…
Pat graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science & Master of Speech Pathology degree at La Trobe University, Melbourne in December 2014. Following graduation Pat received the Victorian Private Geriatric Hospitals award for outstanding academic performance and was awarded a $5,000 bursary which he used towards professional development to improve his ability to support people with disabilities.
Pat has a diverse range of experience that primarily focused on the assessment and management of complex swallowing disorder. Pat has worked in the acute care settings (ED & ICU) through to long-term community management of client’s with chronic swallowing difficulties.
Pat previously worked with the Northern School for Autism, The Northern Hospital in Melbourne, The Royal Melbourne Hospital and The Austin Hospital alongside marking papers for La Trobe University to support the next generation of speech pathologists. Pat has also spent time in Vietnam volunteering with the Trinh Foundation where he supervised Vietnamese speech pathology students.
Outside of work with Swallow Ability Pat enjoys travel, sport, live music and spending time with friends and family. Pat has been a member of Speech Pathology Australia since his time as a student and is a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist (CPSP).
